I've just completed a big studio painting: The Tyrian Purple Pool.
Based on a plein air sketch I made on site almost a year ago, it depicts the many colors of the sea at Achziv Beach, looking north to Rosh Hanikra.
The painting shows the remains of a man-carved pool, used to keep the Hexaplex trunculus; sea snails used to create the Tyrian color purple in ancient times.
This large piece follows a recurring theme in my work, studying man-made landscapes.
Oil on canvas, 100x140 cm.
